The Verapaz North District of Guatemala welcomed 10 new churches in 2022. District Superintendent Francisco Cho presented the churches at the district assembly on 17 March as part of the work carried out by the church in the last year.

The churches are named: Upper Room, Mount of Olives, Mount Gerizim, Samaria, Jerusalem, Precious Blood, Gift, Bethlehem, The Promise, and Redemption. Each church, represented by a delegation at the district assembly, was welcomed and recognized for its work.

"We praise God for how mother churches have worked to form missions into organized churches," Cho said.

The mother churches of the 10 churches are San Juan Chamelco church (three churches), Sepur church (two churches), and the Segunda de Lanquín, Agua Caliente, Chacalté, and Chinapetén churches (one church each). One of the churches is not mentioned as the mother church since it was a transfer from another district.

According to Cho, the newly-organized Bethlehem Church does not yet have a building, but it is a living church that does not stop and continues to work even without a building.

The new churches were supported by the district evangelism ministry, trained by a district team, and tasked to work hard for the expansion of God's kingdom.

"When they ask us what is it that we do differently so that there is a growth of the church, the answer is the moving of the Holy Spirit," Cho said. "That is the only explanation."

"Pastors and those who serve in the church are being mobilized and sent out to accomplish the mission by the power of the Holy Spirit. We have seen the hand of God moving the entire church and giving every impulse. This year (2023), we see how God is moving the church to open new missions."
