Nazarene Bible College celebrated the inauguration of its sixth president, Scott J. Sherwood, on Wednesday, 22 September, at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene.

The service featured scripture reading, prayer, sacred music, a charge to the president from all three living Presidents Emeriti (Jerry Lambert, Hiram Sanders, and Harold Graves), and a charge to the institution from General Superintendent Carla Sunberg. The new president’s inaugural address ended with an invitation to join him in this work as a “presidential partner.”

Sherwood emphasized NBC’s commitment to be a trustworthy partner that offers high-quality, academically rigorous, doctrinally faithful ministerial preparation to Nazarene students. He asked presidential partners to commit financially and prayerfully toward this mission.

The response from those in attendance in person and online brought the total number of new presidential partners to over 100. Nazarene Bible College is praying that God would raise up 1,000 individuals, churches, and districts to be presidential partners over the next several years. More information is available at nbc.edu/partner.

Scott Sherwood was elected by the Board of Trustees of Nazarene Bible College in April. Scott has served the church for 30 years as a youth pastor, evangelist, lead pastor, and most recently, as superintendent of the Northwestern Illinois District. His formal education includes a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts from Olivet Nazarene University.

Scott is married to Sherry (Fortado). Together they have three adult daughters, Libby, Madeira (Hazelwood), and Brooke.
