The Church of the Nazarene's Board of General Superintendents announced that Ronald J. Blake was elected district superintendent for Indianapolis on Monday.

With General Superintendent David Graves presiding, Blake was elected on the sixth ballot on August 1, to be effective 30 days after the election.

Blake currently pastors Detroit First Church of the Nazarene in Michigan. He takes the position left by Ted Lee, who is retiring.

Blake is familiar with the Indianapolis District; he pastored at Indianapolis Westside Church of the Nazarene from 1996 to 2000 before being elected director of the Office of the Ministry under the The Evangelism and Church Growth Division for the International Church of the Nazarene in October 2000.

He also pastored Huntington First in the Northeastern Indiana District from 1993 to 1996.

In 1978, Blake graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelor of arts degree and graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 1982. Blake began his ministry in 1980 and was ordained in 1984. He married Susanne K. Blake in 1980.

Blake also has pastored Kalamazoo (Michigan) First Church, Wawasee (Indiana) Community Church of the Nazarene, and Corpus Christi (Texas) Flour Bluff Church of the Nazarene.

Blake has been the senior pastor at Detroit First since 2003.
