In Memoriam: May 29, 2015

The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who recently went home to be with the Lord. Notices were received May 25-29, 2015.

Michael Allen, 68, of Medford, Oregon, passed away May 21. He was a retired minister, serving in Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, and California. He is survived by his wife, Judy Allen.

E. Keith Bottles, 87, of Boise, Idaho, passed away May 25. He was a retired minister and district superintendent, serving in Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, and Oklahoma and leading the Chicago Central District. He is survived by his wife, Jan Bottles. (story)

Fern Bowman, 87, of Washington Court House, Ohio, passed away May 18. She was the widow of retired minister and evangelist Jack Bowman, who served in Missouri, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, and California. Jack Bowman passed away in 2012.

Lucretia Carter, 82, of Bethany, Oklahoma, passed away May 20. She was a layperson in churches in Oklahoma, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Alaska who contributed in many significant roles, including missions president and helping build and support churches around the world. She was also a pilot, and when she was no longer able to fly she sold her airplane to establish an endowment with the Church of the Nazarene Foundation to enable missionaries to travel in Africa.   

Nan Gardner, 88, of Bakersfield, California, passed away May 19. She was the widow of retired minister Robert Gardner, who served in California. Robert Gardner passed away in 2003.

Fred Laeger, 65, of Imbler, Oregon, passed away May 2. He was a minister, previously serving in Pennsylvania, Washington, Colorado, Florida, and Oregon. He is survived by his wife, Irene Laeger. 

Corleen (Sporleder) Litsey, 88, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away May 22. She was the widow of retired minister Roy Litsey, who served in Idaho, Washington, and Hawaii. Roy Litsey passed away in 1998.

Michael McFarland Sr., 63, of Rochester, Indiana, passed away May 23. He was a minister, serving in Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Craig) McFarland.

Jean (Hall) Ratliff, 87, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, passed away May 22. She was a retired minister, serving in Kentucky and Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ratliff, in 2012.

Rita (Fruchey) Webb, 71, of Reading, Michigan, passed away May 22. She was the wife of retired minister Jerry Webb, who served in Ohio.

Joseph Wright, 85, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away May 24. He was a retired minister and educator, serving in Hawaii, Oregon, Colorado, and New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Wright.
