The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who recently went home to be with the Lord. Notices were received 14-18 August 2023.

Howard Alexander, 98, of Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away 10 August 2023. He was a minister who served in Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Alexander, who passed away in 2005.

Clyde Gunn, 90, of Pittsboro, Indiana, passed away 14 August 2023. He was a retired minister who served in Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phylis Gunn, who passed away in 2017.

Melanie Harris, 51, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away 14 August 2023. She was the wife of Duane Harris, who pastors Hendersonville Church of the Nazarene. 

Barry Kennard, 54, of Hastings, Nebraska, passed away 11 August 2023. He was the co-pastor of Hastings Lakeside Church of the Nazarene. He served previously in Washington, California, Idaho, and Florida. He is survived by his wife, Krystal Kennard, with whom he co-pastored.

Stanley McElrath, 92, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away 2 August 2023. He was a retired minister who served in Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, who passed away in 2017.

Terry Medina, 67, of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, passed away 13 August 2023. He was a retired minister who served in Oegon, Arizona, and Indiana.

Jack Shankel, 90, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away 6 August 2023. He was a retired district superintendent, who led the Maine District (1971-1988), and the Northwestern Ohio District (1988-1998). He served as a minister in Massachusetts, Maine, and Minnesota.

Joseph Ward, 72, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away 27 July 2023. He was a retired minister who served in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Ward. He is survived by his second wife, Linda Ward.
