The Southeast Asia Field dedicated the church building of Yangon Christian Fellowship in September. This building became possible through funding from Alabaster Offering and generous gifts from Sangamdong Church of the Nazarene, pastored by Min-Gyoo Shin, and Onnuri Church of the Nazarene, pastored by Myung Mulk Jeong.

Yangon Christian Fellowship was established eight years ago. The congregation is located near Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Burma). Dan Suan Thang (also known as Pastor Adam) and his wife, Lal Pak Zeli, planted the church after they graduated from the Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary. Despite many challenges, this couple has worked faithfully to develop this local church.

Currently, Pastor Adam serves as the district superintendent of Myanmar Central District. This district held its first District Assembly in March 2020 after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The district has eight churches, and Adam was appointed as the second district superintendent after Dong Hwan “Bill” Kwon became Sealands field strategy coordinator.

The church has grown despite facing financial challenges and renting a small condominium for a few years. Members have faithfully supported the church financially. The church purchased a piece of land in response to their need for a new building. Pastors and church leaders raised approximately $20,000 to buy a small plot near Yangon.

It was a God-sent miracle to raise that much money amid political turmoil. This sacrifice was the foundation of the three-story church building.

The newly built church building is located in the Shwepyithar area north of Yangon, an area of factory zones with great potential for future development and much prayer. YCF Church lives out the scripture that says, “Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be” (Job 8:8, NIV).

They are grateful for the partnership of the global church through Alabaster and the generous donations of the churches in Korea.
