Greg Story Obituary

Gregory Story, 63, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away 14 December 2021 after a battle with cancer. He was the superintendent of the Alabama North District, a role he’s held since 2013.

“Greg Story has been a model for faith-filled, steadfast, perseverance,” said Stan Reeder, USA/Canada regional director. “Throughout his trials over the past few years, he remained optimistic and faithful. Whenever I called to encourage him, I was the one that left the call encouraged. He embodied what humble and committed service to our Lord should be.”

Story was born 22 September 1958. He attended Trevecca Nazarene University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in religion in 1981. He went on to earn his Master of Religious Education at Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1984.

That same year, he accepted his first pastorate at East Gadsden Church of the Nazarene, serving for two years. In 1986, he took over as lead pastor of Cullman First Church of the Nazarene, where he served until January of 2004. He also pastored Gallatin First Church of the Nazarene in Tennessee (2004-2007) and Jasper First Church of the Nazarene (2007-2013) before he became superintendent of the Alabama North District in May of 2013.

Greg is survived by his wife, Charity Story; father, Gilman Story; brother, Geron Story; daughter, Brooke White; son, Blake Story; three grandsons, one niece, and one nephew.

The family will receive friends at Cullman First Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, 18 December 2021 from 11 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service, which will begin at 1 p.m.
