Timothy Carter was elected superintendent of the Iowa District on 14 July 2022. He has pastored Cedar Rapids First Church of the Nazarene since 1997 and served as district secretary since July 2013.

“Cheri and I are humbled and excited to serve alongside the gifted leaders across the Iowa District,” Tim said. “We look toward the future of Iowa with hope and the optimistic grace of Jesus Christ, knowing that by working together to make God’s kingdom alive in every town, city, and over every rolling landscape in Iowa, we can become unstoppable conduits of the amazing grace of God across our state.”

Tim’s assignment became effective 18 July 2022. He succeeds Michael Kraemer, who served in the role since August 2021.

After graduating from Olivet Nazarene University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in ministry, he pastored at Maples Mill Church of the Nazarene (1983-1985) and Springfield South Side Church of the Nazarene (1986-1989).

In 1989, Tim and Cheri moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where Tim pastored Woodhaven Church of the Nazarene until 1994. That year, Tim accepted the pastorate at Waco South Manor Church of the Nazarene, serving there until August of 1997.

Tim became pastor of Cedar Rapids First Church of the Nazarene in 1997, where he has served for nearly 25 years.

Tim and Cheri currently reside in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
