The Iglesia del Nazareno Casa de Bendición is helping hundreds of local families by delivering food bags during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The church, located in San Juan de la Maguana in the Dominican Republic, has helped over 700 children and their families. These children regularly attended the church’s child development center, which has been closed for three weeks.

"The work of the church has touched more than one, has allowed hope to reach many, has raised the name of Jesus very high, and has been an example for other organizations and the government itself to put their hands to action,” said Dhariana Balbuena, regional Nazarene Compassionate Ministries coordinator.

According to Balbuena, Pastor Benny Sánchez and the team that serves with him have kept all the security measures outlined by the Church of the Nazarene and local health and public officials.

In addition to the children and their families, the church has also helped firefighters and health workers with food and hygiene supplies so that they can carry out their daily tasks with peace of mind and safety.

Casa de Bendición initially mobilized using its own funds. Church members also reached out to local companies that have donated resources after seeing the church’s love, passion, and dedication through the members' community work.
