WEF 2011 theme focuses on ‘mustard seed’ donations

Stewardship Ministries and Nazarene Missions International announced the name and theme of the 2011 Thanksgiving Offering for the World Evangelism Fund: Harvest 2011: Plant. Grow. Thrive.

Harvest 2011 will focus on the life of a “mustard seed” donation: A gift sown in faith and bathed in prayer that grows and spreads to cover the earth with Christ’s love.

Since the emphasis is on prayerful giving, local churches will have the option to participate in a global prayer initiative that parallels Harvest 2011’s three weekly themes: Planting with Faith, Growing through Prayer, and Thriving in Christ. The Clergy Development office also has signed on to contribute sermon helps and pastoral resources.

“This year’s goal is to return to our roots and celebrate the incredible prayer and faith that fuel a donation,” said Mark Lail, director of Stewardship Ministries. “The Nazarene denomination is a network: a vast family of believers that covers the globe. Mustard seed donations to the World Evangelism Fund are what help that family to thrive and support one another in fulfilling our shared mission of making Christlike disciples in the nations.”

Harvest 2011 is scheduled for October 9, 2011, in Canada, and November 20, 2011, in the U.S. and other world regions. In addition to making resources available for download on the Nazarene MediaLibrary, NMI and SM will work closely with district and regional NMI leaders throughout the season to exchange feedback, share offering details, and distribute resources to the local church.

As always, World Evangelism Fund offering envelopes are available to local churches, free of charge, by calling the Nazarene Publishing House at (800) 877-0700 or by visiting www.nph.com.
