Business meetings of the 30th General Assembly and Conventions continued on Wednesday. Here are some highlights of the legislative results:

  • Conducted 19 additional rounds of voting to elect the 44th general superintendent. On the final ballot read (Ballot #30), the top five vote recipients were T. Scott Daniels: 538, Scott Rainey: 258, Christian Sarmiento: 33, Min-Gyoo Shin: 23, Stan Reeder: 18.
  • Adopted a resolution that harmonizes Manual ¶ 211.3 with 126.1 and 211.4 (DA-206).
  • Adopted a resolution that allows a general superintendent or district superintendent to call the meeting of the district advisory board as needed (DA-211).
  • Adopted a resolution that allows the district superintendent to remove a member of the district advisory board with a 2/3 vote and approval of the BGS (DA-214).
  • Adopted a resolution that allows for the district superintendent and the district secretary to act as president and secretary of a local church when declared inactive or disorganized (LA-402).
  • Amended and adopted a resolution that allows the district advisory board to approve a church merger in the case of an inactive church (LA-403).
  • Adopted a resolution that clarifies that “not paying apportionments in full” is part of receiving financial assistance (LA-412).
  • Adopted a resolution that adds the recusal of previous pastor’s family from a pastoral review (LA-415).
  • Adopted a resolution that changes sabbatical from every seven to every five years of consecutive pastoral service in the Church of the Nazarene. It also suggests four to six weeks (LA-420).
