In Memoriam Lilly Lake

The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who recently went home to be with the Lord. Notices were received 18-22 November 2024.

Mervin Thomas Adams, 79, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away 2 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Pennsylvania and Florida. He is survived by his wife, Cheri Adams. 

Joy Atwood, 96, of Alexandria, Louisiana, passed away 2 November 2024. She was the widow of Alvin Ray Atwood, a retired minister who served in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. Melvin passed away in 2008.

Steven Barnes, 77, of Stevenson, Washington, passed away 15 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Oregon and Washington. He is survived by his wife, Linda Barnes.

John Borgal, 85, of Airville, Pennsylvania, passed away 19 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Borgal.

Eugene Castle, 97, of Centralia, Washington, passed away 7 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Washington and Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Castle.

Douglas Downs, 69, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away 15 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Indiana, Massachusetts, and Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Downs.

Gerald Eddy, 97, of Jericho, Vermont, passed away 8 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Maine, New York, and Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ninetta Eddy, who passed away in 2017.

Donald Ennis, 82, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away 6 November 2024. He was the spouse of Marilyn Ennis, a retired minister who served in Michigan.

Fessor Hargrove, 88, of Houston, Texas, passed away 14 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hargrove, who passed away in 2006.

Connie Hoffert, 73, of Staples, Minnesota, passed away 3 November 2024. She was the widow of Wayne Hoffert, a retired minister who served in Minnesota. 

Dallas McFarland, 80, of Coldwater, Michigan, passed away 9 November 2024. He was a minister who served in Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Diane McFarland. 

James Dean MacNamara, 66, of Ocala, Florida, passed away 5 November 2024. He served at Ocala West Church of the Nazarene. James served previously as a chaplain and minister in Texas, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland. 

Patricia Stephenson, 90, of Pickford, Michigan, passed away 1 November 2024. She was the widow of Edgar Comandella a retired minister who served in Michigan. Edgar passed away in 1996. Patricia is survived by her second husband, Gary Stephenson.

James Eudell Stroud, 90, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away 15 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, and California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, who passed away in 2012.

L. Dean Thompson, 78, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away 18 November 2024. He was a retired minister who served in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Arizona, Indiana, and Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Thompson, who passed away in March of this year.
