On December 11-12, 2023, Ukrainian families gathered in Barcelona, Spain, to attend an event organized in collaboration with Nazarene Discipleship International and Eurasia regional leaders.
The event was held to encourage, train, and pray for these families, bravely following God's voice into uncertain futures to advance the kingdom of God in Eurasia.
Dr. Scott Rainey, global NDI director, who formerly served as a CIS field strategy coordinator living in Kyiv, Ukraine, attended the event and reconnected with Ukrainian Nazarene leaders bringing encouragement and support at this crucial time.
Dr. Rainey was asked to speak on the topic of Nazarene Identity during the two-day meeting. He spoke on the history, beliefs, polity, and lifestyle of Nazarenes. While speaking on Nazarene beliefs, he emphasized the new denominational framework for discipleship, “A Journey of Grace.” He reminded the Ukrainian leaders spread across Europe that “Nazarenes are called by God to join Jesus in making disciples. We call this the Great Commission. We join Him in reaching the lost (prevenient grace), establishing new believers (saving grace), and walking with all believers to a deeper work of heart holiness (sanctifying grace). Let us join Jesus in making disciples wherever we live from grace to grace to grace.’’
