District assemblies continue on the USA/Canada Region in 2011 and reports arriving at the Church of the Nazarene's Global Ministry Center show more sacrificial generosity among Nazarenes.

The Board of General Superintendents reports goals are being reached in giving to the World Evangelism Fund (WEF), with several districts topping the 100 percent giving mark. Recent 100-Percent Districts include:

  • Philadelphia, 101 percent (Newell Smith, district superintendent)
  • South Texas, 100+ percent (Duane Srader, district superintendent)
  • Southern Florida, 100 percent (David F. Nixon, district superintendent)
  • Upstate New York, 100 percent (William T. Carr, district superintendent)

General Superintendent Jesse C. Middendorf, attending the Southern Florida district assembly, reports the district was $30,000 shy of reaching 100 percent WEF giving before one church (requesting to remain anonymous) volunteered to provide the rest and bring the WEF to 100 percent.

"What a celebration erupted!" Middendorf said.

This was the sixth time in the 38-year history of the Southern Florida District they've achieved the 100 percent mark for WEF and first time in four years.

"Thank you for sharing the good news!" General Superintendent Eugenio R. Duarte said after receiving South Texas' report.

Duarte called the South Texas District's $20,000 WEF overpayment  a "wonderful response." He said leadership has to lead by example in both giving and spending, as well as letting the people who continue to give sacrificially know the Church's needs.

Districts who previously reported 100 percent giving or more to the World Evangelism Fund in 2011 include:

  • Alabama South, 105.6 percent (Mark D. Berry, district superintendent)
  • Central Florida, 101 percent (Larry Dennis, district superintendent)
  • Eastern Michigan, 100 percent (Stephen T. Anthony, district superintendent)
  • Hawaii Pacific, 108 percent (Robert C. Killen, district superintendent)
  • Intermountain, 103.5 percent (Stephen Borger, district superintendent)
  • Louisiana, 100 percent (Greg Mason, district superintendent)
  • Oklahoma, 102 percent (Terry Rowland, district superintendent)
  • Southwest Oklahoma, 114.77 percent (Jim Cooper, district superintendent)
