The Women’s Ministry of the Jesús la Esperanza San Diego Church of the Nazarene in Venezuela held an introductory first aid workshop in February.

During the two days, nine women and three men participated. Some were church members, while others lived in the community. The activities began in the church facilities at 8 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m.

The training was under the direction of the professional firefighter Lyndon Guzmán, who taught the participants about basic first aid. She covered topics of who can provide first aid, legal considerations, and recommendations to carry it out, as well as discussions related to vital signs, the emergency kit, and primary care techniques in terms of wound care, choking, and more frequent injuries.

Each participant obtained his or her respective certificate for having completed the training. The training also covered the importance of serving others in our community and God’s call to all of us equally.

"I found the workshop to be very good,” said participant Angélica Ramírez. “They should continue this type of training since there are many related topics to learn."

The Women's Ministry carries out these types of courses to make the church known in the community and attract more women to the congregation, with the final purpose of taking the word of God to all its members.

Neyla Acosta, one of the participants, expressed her gratitude to the church and those present.

"Excellent training,” Acosta said. “It is essential to have this knowledge to face any adverse situation that arises in life."
