The community of El Nacional in Los Teques, Venezuela, witnessed a moving Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI) activity called Contra Corriente (against the current), carried out by the Peniel Church of the Nazarene. The activity was designed to demonstrate the risks of being preoccupied by culture and technology. Church members came together to preach Christ's message of love and the promise of restoration to families.

The day began with a colorful face-painting session, where more than 35 children from the community delightfully treated themselves with creative designs on their faces. As part of the celebration, treats were delivered, bringing moments of joy and sweetness to the little ones. Church members moved to the beat of the music, expressing their faith and joy through dance. The evange-cube, the evange-ball, and evangelistic tracts were used as visual tools to convey the message of hope and transformation.

The local ministries of Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI), Church Development, Nazarene Missions International (NMI), Nazarene Youth International (NYI), Ministry to Women (MAM), and Communications joined this initiative, demonstrating the congregation's unity and commitment. In addition, young people played a crucial role in providing logistical support and enthusiasm throughout the day.

"In a world where technology and [curiosity] constantly distract us, it is essential to remember the unconditional love of Christ and the possibility of restoration for our families," said Rubiela Arias, pastor of Peniel Church of the Nazarene.

The evangelistic activity in El Nacional left profound effects on the community. Hearts were touched, families felt accompanied, and hope was renewed. The Peniel Church of the Nazarene will continue its mission of bringing the message of love and restoration to all who need it.

"Our community needs hope and a path to restoration, and that's what we want to share," said Yeremi Bazán, local NYI member and local communications leader.
