Peru churches request prayer following floods, mudslides

Peru churches request prayer following floods, mudslides

by | 10 Feb 2017

Nonstop rain over the past two weeks has caused several floods and mudslides in Peru, leaving a trail of destruction and killing at least 13 people. With more heavy rain forecasted for the next few days, leaders in Peru anticipate the situation to worsen.

Nazarene churches in Peru are working to assist their communities by providing food, safe water, and emergency response kits. At least two districts have been affected. In the North Peru District (with 75 Nazarene churches), more than 700 houses have collapsed and 1,500 people have been affected. On the North Pacific District (65 Nazarene churches), 101 houses were declared inhabitable by the authorities and nearly 1,300 people were affected.

As the streets remain flooded, there is a great fear for the spread of diseases due to the standing waters.

How to help

Pray for affected families and for local churches as they respond to the needs in their local communities.
