NCN Commissioned Missionaries

The Church of the Nazarene's Global Missions office recommended nine missionaries for commissioning during the 100th General Board Session, held in Overland Park, Kansas, USA, 23-26 February.

Each of these missionaries has been serving in long-term strategic assignments in diverse settings around the world. The commissioning of missionaries is a recognition of the life and call of the missionary, an indication of the missionary’s willingness to serve the church, and an affirmation of his or her service into the future.

Brian and Julie Woolery have been serving as missionaries since 2009. Brian serves as the pastor of the Keystone Nazarene church in Okinawa, Japan. Julie serves as a teacher in an international school in Japan. Their home church is in the South Texas District in the United States. They are being commissioned as missionaries on global assignment to serve in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Benjamin and Hannah Ponder have been serving as missionaries since 2019. Both Ben and Hannah oversee church planting and Nazarene Compassionate Ministries projects in Serbia. Their home church is in the Kentucky District in the United States. They are being commissioned as missionaries on global assignment to serve in the Eurasia Region.

Carlos and Nancy Cordero have been serving as missionaries since 2021. Carlos serves as the field strategy coordinator for the North Central Field in Mesoamerica. Nancy serves as assistant to the field strategy coordinator. Their home church is in the Venezuela Lago District in Venezuela. They are being commissioned as missionaries on global assignment to serve in the Mesoamerica Region.

Tamy* has served as a missionary since 2020. She currently serves as the field communications coordinator, child sponsorship coordinator, and translator. Her home church is in the North East District in Argentina. Tamy is being commissioned as a missionary on global assignment to serve in the Eurasia Region.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
