Maury Medeiros da Silveira was appointed superintendent of the Nordeste Paulista District on 2 February 2022. 

The appointment was made by General Superintendent Fili Chambo in consultation with the Board of General Superintendents, District Advisory Board, South America Regional Director Christian Sarmiento, and Brazil Sub-Regional Director Manuel Lima. Da Silveira previously pastored Igreja do Nazareno Zanaga.

“I am very hopeful,” da Silveira said. “I do not fear the challenges, always trusting in the Lord because our dependence is on Him. It has always been like this and always will be. The Word is hope, and we will grow and advance in Jesus’ name."

Initially, the district assembly elected Achilles Acerbi as superintendent, but due to health reasons, Acerbi had to decline. Da Silveira was the runner-up of that election. He replaces Luiz Henrique Biazon, who has led Distrito Nordeste Paulista for the last 26 years. 

“The Church of Brazil thanks Rev. Luiz Henrique Biazon for 26 years at the head of the Distrito Nordeste Paulista,” Lima said. “We wish Rev. Maury a blessed and fruitful period of leadership that extends to all the churches of the District.”
