Olivet Nazarene University reported the highest enrollment in the university’s 108-year history, including the largest-ever senior class and a record number of students living in residence on the main campus in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

Enrollment figures show a total of 4,916 students, including 1,390 who are new or transfer students. Of nearly 2,900 undergraduates, 2,358 live on campus. The senior class numbers 756.

In Olivet’s School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, enrollment topped 2,000 for fall semester, reflecting the university’s midwest expansion with new regional centers in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Grand Rapids and Grand Ledge, Michigan.

“At a time when many universities are experiencing significant decreases in enrollment, Olivet continues to attract quality students from around the nation and the world,” said Susan Wolff, dean of undergraduate enrollment. “Interest in the university remains high from students and families who value the distinctive blend of quality academics and career preparation in a Christian setting.”

Walter “Woody” Webb, Olivet vice president for student development, said students are more interested than ever in living on-campus at Olivet.

“Students appreciate that the Olivet experience extends beyond the classroom and into the entire campus community, where resident directors and advisors, mentors, and coaches are dedicated to helping students develop throughout their college careers,” Webb said.

Olivet’s fall enrollment data is based on the 10-day count, the standard used by colleges and universities nationwide to measure student enrollment. Its timing is based on the start of the traditional undergraduate calendar.
