MNU President David Spittal announced the appointment of Daniel Rincones as dean of students effective in July. Rincones has been the director of residential life since 2015. He will assume responsibility for the leadership of Student Development, Residential Life, and its staff, and will serve as an advisor to the President’s Cabinet and Board of Trustees. Rincones is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Counselor Education at MNU and serves local clients as a licensed professional counselor.

Previously, Rincones served at MNU as a resident educator and assistant chaplain. He was the youth pastor at Christ Community Church of the Nazarene in Olathe from 2008 to 2013. Rincones earned a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, Theology and Religion from MNU in 2009, the Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in spiritual formation in 2015, and certification in sexual addictions treatment in 2017.

“Daniel has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills at MNU,” Spittal said. “Combined with his professional background in counseling, and his varied experience, he is uniquely prepared to lead this vital aspect of university life.  I’m pleased he is taking this role on our leadership team and I look forward to working with him.”

Rincones will step into the role of dean when Kristi Keeton, vice president for student development, retires in July.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to transition into this role at a place where students experience a sense of belonging as they discern their vocational calling and prepare for their future,” Rincones said. “I look forward to continued collaboration with the campus community as we enrich the lives of our beloved Pioneers.”

Spittal also applauded Keeton on her work with student development at MNU.

“She is an outstanding member of our leadership team and has made a significant impact on the campus community,” Spittal said. “I appreciate Kristi’s spirit and leadership and want to thank her for excellent service.”

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
