Mesoamerica leaders trained at regional writers meeting

by | 23 May 2019

The Mesoamerica Region's second Wesleyan Writers Development Meeting took place 9-11 May on the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas campus in San Jose, Costa Rica.

More than 40 pastors and leaders from six districts across Nicaragua, Panama, and Costa Rica attended the event — an increase from the region’s first writers meeting February 2018 in Oaxaca, Mexico, which featured 28 participants.

These meetings aim to support existing Wesleyan authors, awaken a passion for writing in new authors, and to develop writing techniques in leaders, enabling them to write better articles, lessons, and books.

Writer and the General Editor for the Mesoamerica School of Leadership Program Mónica Mastronardi de Fernández was the main event speaker.

Church of the Nazarene General Editor Frank Moore also spoke during the event, and Global Nazarene Publications contributed to the event housing and food.

District Superintendents Sirlene Bustos, María Antonia Ponce, and Carlos de la Cruz participated in the meeting. Regional Director L. Carlos Sáenz, Costa Rica Ministry Coordinator Jorge Baños, and Regional Literature Coordinator Wilfredo Marciaga also participated to further develop their writing abilities.

“Just like in Oaxaca, God´s presence was real among us and reaffirmed we are in the correct route,” said Rubén Fernández, coordinator of Education and Pastoral Development. “Our desire is to form a regional network of Wesleyan writers and to remain in contact and permanent growth. We are grateful to God and to everyone who made this event possible. It was without a doubt a greatly enriching experience.”
