Guyana camp reminds children they are fearfully, wonderfully made

by | 07 May 2019

Nearly 100 children attended this year’s Guyana Demerara-Essequibo District children’s camp 24-27 April at Camp Wesleyan near Georgetown. The camp theme was I Know Who I Am, and the event was divided into teaching, discussion, and evangelism sessions.

During the teaching session, the children learned that they were fearfully and wonderfully created in the image of God.

The discussion sessions further developed the teaching sessions, utilizing crafts and games to illustrate the lessons.

The evangelism sessions focused on the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, and approximately 60 children made the decision to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The children were also encouraged to share their faith with their friends and family using different techniques and tools.

After the sessions finished, camp leaders organized an interactive session on child abuse. Officers from the Ministry of Social Protection – Child Protection Agency conducted the session that taught children how to defend themselves against child abuse and how to ask for help if they need it.

“We give God all the glory for all our partners who contributed to making the 2019 children’s camp a success,” said Neilford Chase, a local pastor.
