A social impact event called “Natal Feliz” (Merry Christmas) took place in Campinas, Brazil, last Saturday. The event was organized through the Alance 55 project, which brought legal services and health professionals to support the community.

The Alcance 55 (Reach 55) project is directed by, Pastor Andreia, the facilitator, and coordinated by Lucas Mendes, Carol Dutra, Isa Valler, and Heloisa Freitas.

Alance 55 is a core area of NYI that puts into practice the pillar of social justice,” Dutra said. “We are a social impact project with the objective of mobilizing volunteers using their profession, skills, and talents to generate transformation in regions of high social vulnerability through specific and continuous actions. We believe that through our youth empowered and inspired by God, we can reach Brazil for Christ.”

The “Natal Feliz” event took place at the Nabi Abi Chedid gym in the Génesis neighborhood in Campinas. A few months prior, Alcance 55 was started in the community with a focus on sports, specifically futsal. The team did this, to help integrate themselves into the community, thus building the familiarity and trust needed toward advancing ministry.

This year, the theme of their project was Em Familia or “In the Family.” The goal was to create an environment for families to enjoy events together such as art, circus acts, and evangelistic presentations. Additionally, experienced professionals offered legal support, haircuts, and healthcare services as necessary. Finally, the long-awaited delivery of toys and presents could not be missed. According to the organizers, approximately 200 people were served, including children, teenagers, and parents.

Dutra said that “the reception and gratitude of the community” was striking.

“It is a region that lacks both financial resources and care, love and emotional and spiritual structure,” Dutra continued. “We saw people being touched by the love of the Lord. It was beautiful to see the smiles, the cries of joy, and the look of enchantment with everything that was prepared. I believe in the seeds that were planted! Whenever I think about Natal Feliz, my heart is filled with joy because I believe that the fruits will come.”

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
