Kadao, a local church in the central part of a Creative Access Area in Southeast Asia, is shining its light in the community. Despite language barriers and a lack of resources, they were willing to serve the community and nurture members’ spiritual growth.

Recently, the Kadao church held a Vacation Bible School (VBS). The pastor and his daughter led 71 children from their congregation and the community in a joyful and enlightening experience. The VBS serves as a platform to share the gospel, teach the children about God’s love, and, hopefully, spark their faith in God.

During the VBS week, the field strategy coordinator* visited the district for spiritual growth and deepening weekend. The pastors from other local churches gathered to learn and fellowship with the FSC. It was also a time for this district to pray and bless all their pastors and workers, dedicating their lives to spreading the Word of God.

The local church also impacts the community through its compassionate ministry. The congregation’s compassion extended to one of the girls who attended the VBS. The girl and her family are living under a nearby bridge. The church helped provide the family with food, cleanliness, and care. Their act of kindness testifies how the church is being the hands and feet of Jesus.

“The journey of this small church in a Creative Access Area is a constant reminder of the power of faith and the transformative impact of love,” said Steven Barber, a missionary on the Asia-Pacific Region. “As they continue to serve those in need, let us join our hands in prayer, asking for strength and blessings for the church’s endeavors. May their unwavering commitment to humanity inspire us to follow suit, ensuring that the light of God’s love shines brightly in even the darkest corners of the world.”

Barber believes these stories speak volumes about the power of faith, love, and compassion.

“Amidst challenges, this small church is a testament to the fact that one’s dedication to God can overcome obstacles,” Barber said. “Their actions echo in the hills and valleys, reminding us that the true measure of a church’s wealth lies not in its material possessions but in its boundless love for its community.”

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
